True North Therapy & Training is pleased to announce an externship emphasizing evidence-based psychotherapy and psychedelics integration therapy for the 2024 – 2025 academic year. This year, we are offering one adult/adolescent focused externship.
About True North
We are a unique psychotherapy practice that prioritizes the well being of our therapists and works to create a culture of warmth and authenticity, as well as professional and personal growth. We also care deeply about our clients, so we practice and disseminate only evidence based therapies. True North is one of the leading providers of empirically supported third wave and contextual behavioral therapies in the Washington DC area. Our primary approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We also utilize other third wave and mindfulness based approaches including Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP), Clinical applications of Relational Frame Theory (RFT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Behavioral interventions including Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP).
Psychedelic Harm Reduction & Integration Therapy
True North is also proud to be at the forefront of ACT-informed psychedelic safety and integration therapy. Indeed, we are one of only a handful of practices offering psychedelic harm reduction, preparation, and integration therapy in the greater DC-Maryland-Virginia area.

Our diverse patient population presents with a wide variety of struggles including mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive spectrum disorders, trauma, eating disorders, relationship concerns, and personality disorders.
